A Trustline is an explicit consent or required setting on the Stellar network that enables your wallet to hold and transact with specific assets, like USDC. Without an established Trustline, your account cannot receive payments in that asset
Scenario A: Inactivated Address
If you purchased USDC Stellar using an address that was not yet activated on the Stellar network:
| Step | Action | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Activate Wallet | Send a minimum of 1.6 XLM to the receiving address. | Stellar requires a small XLM balance for account activation and reserve. |
| 2. Enable Trustline & Claim | Claim the payment using your USDC Stellar wallet application OR via the StellarTerm client. | The claim process will automatically establish the required Trustline. |
Scenario B: Activated Address (Missing Trustline)
If you purchased USDC Stellar using an address that is active but does not have the USDC Trustline enabled:
| Step | Action | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Check Balance | Ensure you have a minimum of 1.6 XLM already on the address. | This reserve is required for the network to establish the Trustline. |
| 2. Enable Trustline & Claim | Claim the payment using your USDC Stellar wallet application OR via the StellarTerm client. | The claim process will prompt you to set up the necessary Trustline. |
