🚫 The Golden Rules of Crypto Safety
Once cryptocurrency is sent to a wallet that belongs to a scammer, there is no way to get it back. Transactions are irreversible. Please follow these rules to stay safe:
Remote Access is a Red Flag: NEVER provide a stranger with remote access to your computer (e.g., via AnyDesk or TeamViewer).
If It Sounds Too Good To Be True: Never trust people offering massive returns for a small commission fee.
The "Unlock Fee" Scam: Never trust anyone claiming there is Bitcoin already in an account for you, but you must pay a "commission" to unlock it.
Don't Click: Do not click on hyperlinks in text messages, social media, or emails, even if they appear to come from a trusted source. Always type the URL manually.
🕵️♀️ How to Spot a Scam (Due Diligence)
Before sending money to any company or individual, perform these quick checks:
Check Reviews: Search Google for “Company Name + reviews” or “Company Name + scam”. Ensure other users aren't complaining about lost money.
Verify the URL: Scammers often create websites that look real but have slight spelling errors. Check the address bar carefully.
Check Domain Age: You can verify how long a website has existed by typing the URL here. (Be wary of sites created very recently).
Verify Licenses: Check the company's license number on official government registries.
🎭 How Scammers Will Contact You
Fraudsters use various methods to gain your trust. Be suspicious of:
Cold Calls/Messages: Unsolicited calls or messages on WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, or Facebook.
Impersonation: People pretending to be government officials, police, Microsoft tech support, or bank employees.
Romance Scams: People you meet on dating sites who quickly move the conversation to finance or crypto.
Data Mining: They may collect info from your social media to sound convincing when they contact you.
🔒 Banking Security Essentials
Guard your bank details with your life.
Keep it Secret: NEVER disclose your Password, PIN, or Online Banking Codes to anyone.
Bank Policy: Real banks will never ask for your PIN or passwords via email, phone, or social media.
OTP Warning: Ignore any One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent to your phone if you did not personally initiate a transaction. Never read an OTP out loud to a caller.
